    Why AI text needs cleaning

Chat assistants write in Markdown, a plain-text formatting style where **double asterisks** mean bold and ## hashes mean a heading. In the chat window those symbols turn into formatting. Copy the text somewhere else, such as a WhatsApp message, a property portal listing, a plain email or a form, and the symbols often come along as literal characters. The text also tends to carry typographic habits that look out of place in casual writing, such as long em dashes and curly quotation marks.

    What each option does

    • Remove Markdown symbols. Strips heading hashes, bold and italic markers, code backticks and block quotes, turns [link text](url) into "link text (url)", and converts bullet markers into a simple dash.
    • Remove hidden characters. Deletes zero-width spaces, zero-width joiners, byte-order marks, soft hyphens and similar invisible Unicode characters, and turns non-breaking spaces into normal spaces. These can break search, form validation, spreadsheet formulas and code.
    • Replace em and en dashes. Swaps "—" and "–" for a comma, a simple hyphen or a spaced hyphen, whichever you prefer.
    • Straighten quotes. Converts curly quotes and apostrophes to plain straight ones, which is safer for code, CSV files and some websites.
    • Remove emoji. Useful for formal documents and systems that cannot store emoji.
    • Tidy spacing. Trims spaces at the ends of lines, collapses runs of spaces and limits blank lines to one.

    Worked example

An assistant drafts a listing: "## Spacious 3-Bedroom Condo — Mont Kiara" followed by bullets such as "* **Size:** 1,350 sq ft". Pasted into a portal that does not support Markdown, the hashes and asterisks show up as-is. After cleaning, the heading reads "Spacious 3-Bedroom Condo, Mont Kiara" and the bullet reads "- Size: 1,350 sq ft", ready to paste.

    About "AI watermarks"

You may have read that AI text contains hidden watermark characters. Ordinary chat output does not reliably contain them, but invisible characters can creep in from copying between apps, websites and documents, and this tool removes those. Removing characters does not change the wording itself. AI detection tools judge writing style, not hidden symbols, so the honest way to make a draft your own is to edit it.

    Privacy

Cleaning happens in your browser. The text is not uploaded or stored, so it is safe to use with client emails and internal documents.

    Questions

Will this make AI text undetectable?

No, and it does not try to. It removes formatting symbols and invisible characters. Detection tools look at writing style, so if you want the text to sound like you, edit the wording.

Does ChatGPT add hidden watermark characters?

Normal ChatGPT output does not reliably contain hidden watermark characters. Invisible characters such as zero-width spaces do appear in copied text from many sources, and this tool finds and removes them.

    Can I keep bullet points?

Yes. With Markdown removal on, bullet markers become a plain dash at the start of the line, so lists stay readable in plain text.

    Is my text stored?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
